However, in the vast majority of cases, <strong>sexual activity<\/strong>\u2014as long as it is appropriate for the pregnancy (no extreme or dangerous practices)\u2014<strong>is safe<\/strong> (and even <strong>very beneficial<\/strong> as we\u2019ve seen above) for a pregnant woman.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Are penetrative sexual relations allowed during pregnancy?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Except for medical exceptions<\/strong>, there is <strong>no contraindication<\/strong> to having penetrative sex during pregnancy <strong>if you want to<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Your baby is well protected<\/strong> in the uterus and amniotic sac. There is therefore <strong>no risk of your partner touching or harming your baby<\/strong> (and no risk of this causing a pregnancy loss). Using a sex toy is also not a problem!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Good to know: during pregnancy, <strong>penetration should not be painful<\/strong>. Here are some <strong>situations where penetrative sex is generally discouraged<\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Placenta previa<\/strong>: this is when the placenta is positioned over the cervix.
